On this episode of A Public Affair, voters rejected one of the most contentious statewide ballot measures in the recent election. Proposition 127 would have ended the trophy hunting and commercial fur trapping of mountain lions and bobcats, and put more protective measures in place for the lynx. The failure of Proposition 127 marks the first time in four elections – since 1992 – that Colorado voters have rejected a proposed wildlife ballot measure. Julie Marshall was the Communications Director for Prop 127. She is a former opinion editor for The Daily Camera and works with Animal Wellness Action and Cats Aren’t Trophies, a coalition of Coloradans that includes nearly 100 wildlife and other organizations.
